The Antichrist – Iconography of the Great Deceiver
The archetype of the Antichrist—the Al-Masih ad-Dajjal from Islamic tradition or the Man of Lawlessness from Christian eschatology—functions here not merely as a religious figure, but as a razor-sharp conceptual tool to deconstruct our contemporary reality.
The work positions the “Great Deceiver” as a mirror of human vulnerability to charismatic systems.
The artist connects the eschatological traditions of the Abrahamic religions with the rise of all-encompassing technologies. Will the promised world order be the salvation of humanity?
Actually I want to mislead you with this work of art called the ANTICHRIST.
When you look at this work by Jheronimus Bosch you think you know immediately who stands for good and evil.
This is also the case in this work THE ANTICHRIST, assuming that the ”dark” rocks represent evil and the ”white” peaceful.
But in Christianity the Bible states that the antichrist will enjoy all the trust of the world’s citizens in the first years.
They will not recognize him.
They will admire and trust him. Just give him all the power to restore the world order.
Which will be the case for a short period, after which he will fall into evil. Disasters and wars will occur.
The Koran says that he will present himself as the Messiah ”THE GREATEST DECEIVER”. The MASSIH-AD-DAJJAL.
Submission to Allah or death by the ”sword”.
The Jewish tradition also has its own version of the ANTICHRIST, namely the AMALEK.
By first getting the world behind it with false appearances and promises, after which it falls into evil with the intention of destroying Israel, the Jewish population.
To steer towards the final battle or Armageddon, as it is written in these religions, after which the thousand-year kingdom of peace will begin.
…..Or is this also a devilish trick of the ultimate evil of the one who deceives the world with false promises of eternal peace, but first leads them to a final battle in which he knows that humanity and God’s creation will be completely destroyed with current technology. After all, he is the greatest deceiver and liar.
