The title “Stop Art Now” is an ironic call for immunity to aesthetic experiences, executed with materials literally designed to prevent contact.

The use of dental dams as a medium is considered unique within modern sculpture. The material possesses a specific semi-transparency and a soft, almost fleshy texture that compels the viewer to physically confront the vulnerability of the human body. Waar dental-dams (beflappen) in de medische en seksuele context dienen als barrière tegen infectieziekten zoals Aids, zet de kunstenaar ze hier in als een cynisch schild tegen de “infectie” van kunst zelf. De titel “Stop Art Now” is een ironische oproep tot immuniteit voor esthetische ervaringen, uitgevoerd met materialen die letterlijk zijn ontworpen om contact te voorkomen.
2. Materialiteit en Uniciteit
Het gebruik van dental-dams als medium is binnen de moderne beeldhouwkunst als superuniek te bestempelen. Het materiaal bezit een specifieke semi-transparantie en een zachte, bijna vlezige textuur die de toeschouwer dwingt tot een fysieke confrontatie met de kwetsbaarheid van het menselijk lichaam.
