TABERNACLE
100% approved by Yahweh, God & Allah.
Yahweh, Christian God, Allah have given an absolute ban on images.
On Mount Sinai, He Himself scratched into one of Moses’ tables the second of the Ten Commandments: «Thou shalt not make images; no image of any creature in the heavens above, or in the earth below, or in the waters beneath the earth.” (Exodus 20).
In return, the Lord promised rain, great harvests, plenty of fruit well past the normal harvest time, and long-lasting peace (Leviticus 26).
It is forbidden not only to depict God, but anything with soul.
Only ‘essential’ art is acceptable: abstract figures, patterns of lines and surfaces, and exceptionally a flower or tree, as long as they are painted without soul.
At the end of His instructions, God said to make everything according to His instructions (Exodus 31:11).
God’s careful instructions for building the Tabernacle, Church, Mosque remind us that His perfection sets the standard for all we create in His name.
Whatever we make – not just in the visual arts, but in all art forms – we must make it the best we can and offer God only our best.
Using Exodus 31 as a guide, goodness, truth, and beauty are among God’s aesthetic standards.
The Tabernacle, Church and Mosque were beautiful.
The buildings were designed to tell the truth about God and his relationship with his people.
And to fulfill that purpose, every part of the place of prayer said something about God.
Her art was in the service of truth.
Art is liberating and redemptive, and this is its highest goal.
Artists were called upon to make good art with mastery of technique.
There was beauty in the color, brilliance of her gems, shape of her objects and the symmetry of her proportions.
God takes care of this by specially equipping the artists with the gift of his Spirit.
All this tells us something about what kind of artist God, Yahweh, Allah is: an artist who loves beauty.
